Fash Illustration

After you get your inspiration, you tend to draw out an illustration to get an idea of what type of clothing your going for. I would say this step could go under making a storyboard or even the next phase into implementing your plan. These are a couple fashion illustrations that inspired me.

ApparelNews

The public is your biggest marketing campaign! Once the public and the people are wearing and accept the style your putting out there then you have a trend! Apparelnews.net has everything you need to look at what are new and upcoming trends. They have sections on: Fashion Week, Fashion Shows, Colors, Themes, Trends, Calendars, Events & People, and much more. All of these categories have a huge impact on what will be happening in the fashion world in the upcoming months.
Fashion shows are obviously a huge part of seeing what the new trends are. Most fashion shows are prepared months in advance and are previewed months before the season even comes up. These shows help other designers that market to the mass, and by seeing these fashion shows in advance the designers can go back and have inspiration to make clothes that are appealing to the mass.
Garments that have an appealing color to them are more likely to sell then a plain garment that might have amazing detail to it. Color is very important in the fashion world! ApparelNews says that in Spring 2010 blues and purples will be the new trend along with beading, different color sequins, and lots of frills and ruffles.
Textiles can go hand in hand with color! You could have the most beautiful color palette but if your designing a silk to the floor dress your going to want to make it out of silk not wool. It’s not going to be the feminine flow of what you had wanted originally and what you get out of silk. Along with what the fabric is there are also ornamentations of the fabrics like beading, sequins, and other decorative pieces. You want the decorative pieces plus your fabric texture and color to also match! Once designers know the textures, colors, and trends of the season coming up they have inspiration off the runway to go make the collection that appeals to the mass. Then they’ll know what most of the people in that target market will be buying in the season they designed for!
